About me.
I spent 24 years in the British Army and then retrained as an executive coach. I work with individuals, groups and teams, around specific goals, within a calm and trusting space. Psychological safety is key to all my interactions; I am here in the service of the client.
I am passionate about maximising the human potential within organisations and - going a bit further - that humankind can live in harmony whilst preserving our beautiful planet for future generations.
My approach.
While in the Army, I experienced examples of brilliant and courageous leadership, teamwork and communication. I also learned about the importance of the individual within the team and experienced first-hand what happens when there is a misalignment between an individual and the organisation – guess who wins? This misalignment can often be triggered by a significant change – in the organisation or one experienced by an individual. For example, a job promotion, a redundancy, a change of role or industry etc.
In my coaching I focus on the individual first; their needs, beliefs, values, motivations and strengths. An effective team is built on shared values and trust but it starts with each person within that team understanding themselves. I then work with the team to cultivate an environment where each member's strengths are harnessed, enabling the group to function cohesively and achieve collective goals with trust and shared values at the core.
Who am I?
I wrestled with this question for over 20 years. Then I finally invested in myself, did some psychotherapy sessions, completed a coaching course, got some coaching ( a lot of coaching). And I now know who I am. I am a lot of people all of the time. But I am getting really acquainted with those people and I am starting to really like them all too .
Who are these different people? Well, I am a coach, leadership expert, retired Lieutenant Colonel in the Royal Engineers, mother, a wife, a daughter, sister of someone with autism, a people pleaser, a sailor, skier, reader, someone who takes themselves really seriously one moment then can laugh at how ridiculous I am being in another!
I would like to help others find out who they are, find their values and start to revel in their strengths; to know what motivates them and the direction they are going in. I spent many years in the Army afraid of not fitting in, not feeling good enough and second guessing my decisions. The right type of Intervention early in my career could have possibly changed that. I am using what I have learned the hard way to help others. There is an alternative to “faking it ‘til you make it”!
